Post Doctoral Fetal Medicine Fellowship Programme at Doppler Scans

Doppler Scans Madurai is a well renowned center for ultrasonography in general and obstetric applications for more than 35 years. The centre has all the expertise of radiologists and leading equipments in the field of ultrasound and fetal medicine. All basic interventions in radiology and obstetrics are performed. Doppler Scans offers a one and half year fellowship in fetal medicine effective from 2025.

Who Are Eligible:

The fellowship programme is offered to qualified radiologists (MD, DMRD, DNB) and qualified gynaecologists (DGO / MD / MS OG candidates). Both fresh and post-degree work experience candidates are also eligible.

Duration of The Course

Timings for the candidates: The course is for 18 months, during which the first 6 months will focus on exposure and understanding the basics. The next one year will involve in-depth learning of all aspects of fetal medicine, including genetics and screening. Certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the examination after the course.

Fees For The Course

The fees for the entire course are ₹5 lakhs, of which 50% can be paid at the start of the course and the remaining 50% can be paid at the end of one year.

Program Curriculam

Fellowship in Fetal Medicine:

The fellowship in fetal medicine encompasses one year of comprehensive training, which includes the following key components:

  • Advanced nuchal translucency (NT) scan: Hands-on training for performing an FMF-certified NT scan, including assessment of ductus venosus, tricuspid Doppler, and nasal bone
  • FMF risk calculation: Training in risk calculation for trisomies, preterm birth, and pre-eclampsia during the first trimester
  • Pre-eclampsia risk assessment: Evaluation in each trimester.
  • Fetal echocardiography
  • Fetal neurosonography
  • Counselling regarding soft markers and abnormal cases
  • Targeted imaging: Techniques for identifying fetal anomalies along with associated counselling
  • Third trimester assessments: Growth scans with Doppler studies, identification and counselling for late-onset anomalies
  • Genetic counselling
  • Fertility ultrasound
  • Advanced gynec ultrasound with 3D
  • Practical training: Exposure to and hands-on experience with fetal procedures, including amniocentesis, chorionic villous sampling, and fetal reduction
  • Observational training in advanced fetal interventions: Fetal shunt procedures, IUT, and fetoscopy procedures at the end of the course
